What are the dates, times and location of the event?
The event is taking place on February 21 to February 23 on Main Street, Newmarket. The event is closed to cars so guests can roam freely from Water Street north to Park Street. Event hours:
- Friday, February 21: 12 p.m. to 10 p.m.
- Saturday, February 22: 11 a.m. to 10 p.m.
- Sunday, February 23: 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Is there an opening ceremony?
Join us on Friday, February 21 at 7:00 p.m. for the opening remarks at the Main Bar where Mayor Taylor will officially open the weekend long event with a toast. Come out and raise a glass to celebrate winter in style on Main Street Newmarket.
Where can I park?
Parking is available at Riverwalk Commons and surrounding areas as per parking by-laws and winter parking by-laws. If you plan on having alcoholic beverages, you are strongly advised to not to drive.
What roads will be closed in the area & when?
Main Street from Water Street to Park Avenue will be closed from 4 p.m. THURSDAY, FEBRUARY 20 to 11 p.m. on SUNDAY, FEBRUARY 23. Lorne Avenue, Prospect Street, Water Street and Queen Street are all open as per usual traffic access. Parking spaces along Main Street will be closed at 3 p.m. on Thursday, February 20 from Water Street to Park Avenue. Any remaining vehicles may be towed.
Where can I go if I've lost something or found something?
The Town Booth, located at Timothy & Main will have Town of Newmarket Staff on site during all event operational hours to assist you with event information, general inquiries, lost & found and First Aid. We also have York Regional Police on site, as well as Paramedics in case of any emergencies. When in doubt, find a Town of Newmarket staff person and let them know your concern.
How can I find or identify a Town of Newmarket Staff person?
Every staff member will be wearing a blue Town of Newmarket jacket. All staff will have radio access to one another, as well as police and paramedics. The Town Booth will be staffed at all times during the event.
Where can I find washrooms?
The washrooms at both Old Town Hall at 460 Botsford Street, on the West side of Main, as well as at the Community Centre & Lions Hall at Riverwalk Commons (200 Doug Duncan Drive) will be open for public use. Please only use the facilities inside at restaurants and stores if you are a patron to minimize the amount of traffic in the stores for bathroom purposes only.
Is this event suitable for children?
The event is all ages and suitable for families. Please note, most of the kid-friendly activations and entertainment will take place between 12 pm and 5 pm daily. The street is fully licensed, allowing attendees who are 19+ to leisurely stroll with a beverage in hand while indulging in the specially curated shops and dining options for the weekend. Main Street will be adorned with propane fire tables, seating areas, an array of food and drink choices, and in-store pop-ups, creating a tailored environment for adults to gather, dine, sip, shop, and relish the winter weekend ambiance. The programming includes Instagram worthy photo opportunities, complimentary winter treats, scheduled street performances, live music and more with a deliberate emphasis on cultivating a winter lounge vibe.

Where is the Choose Local booth and what are the hours?
The Choose Local booth is centrally located on the east side of Main St. in front of Hungry Grew Hops. You can't miss the giant, red Choose Local sign on site. The booth is open the following dates & times.

Can I bring my own food to roast at the Marshmallow Zones?
No, unfortunately we cannot permit outside food to be roasted at the event's Marshmallow Zones. A Town of Newmarket Staff will be on site at the Zone to assist with proper food handling and preparation to make the most of your experience. We do the prep, provide the marshmallows and skewers – and you can take over and roast your marshmallow over the cooking grade fuel to your liking.
