The Town of Newmarket is inviting residents to an upcoming Public Consultation Centre to learn more about planned infrastructure improvements to Cane Parkway, which is reaching the end of its useful life.
Work is expected to begin in spring 2027 and it is anticipated to be complete by summer 2028.
Work includes, but is not limited to:
- Replacement of the watermain, sanitary sewer and storm sewer
- Lane reconfiguration to improve traffic flow and accommodate parking needs
- Implementation of Low Impact Development (LID) features to manage stormwater
- Construction of a Multi-Use Path (MUP) on the east side to connect to the Mulock MUP and the Tom Taylor Trail
- Installation of a new sidewalk on the west side adjacent to Dennis Park
- Installation of a pedestrian refuge island across from Dennis Park to improve crossing safety
- Retention of existing centre median islands, where feasible
- New tree plantings to enhance Newmarket's urban tree canopy
- Parking lot enhancements
- Installation of new street lighting
- Road reconstruction, including new asphalt paving

- Where: Municipal Offices (395 Mulock Drive) in the Cane Rooms
Representatives from the Town's Engineering Services and the consulting engineers on the project (Ainley) will be available to answer questions.
Project boards can be viewed on the project website after the meeting.
Note: Please be advised that the Beswick Drive Watermain Replacement and Road Reconstruction Project Public Consultation Centre is taking place at the same time and location as the Cane Parkway public meeting noted above.
