AMO - Peter J. Marshall Certificate of Merit

This award was presented to the Town of Newmarket and the Town of Aurora for their innovation involved in creating one fire service serving the two municipalities (Central York Fire Services).

2004

GTEC Week Distinction Awards

The Town of Newmarket received a national award for leadership in e-government/information technology for the acceleration of the Town's Geographic Information Systems (GIS) program. In less than a year, the Town of Newmarket deployed seven web-based GIS tools, including the Navigate Newmarket mapping portal.

2005

Recycling Council of Ontario (RCO) Ontario Waste Minimization Award

Newmarket was granted the Bronze Award for municipalities that divert a significant percentage of municipal waste from disposal. The Bronze Award is for municipalities generating between 216-280 kilograms per capita, a 20 per cent reduction from the estimated provincial average. Newmarket has also received this award in 1999, 2001, 2003 and 2004.  

2007

Economic Development Council of Ontario's (EDCO) Marketing Award

Newmarket was recognized as the 'best in class' in the Publication: annual report category for the 2005/06 Community Report out of 190 submissions. The award acknowledges innovative and creative approaches to telling engaging business stories that will prompt continued or new investment. Casting aside tradition, the community report was written in an editorial and casual tone, featuring two articles: The story of a green town and The project of the year. The document also celebrates the Town's accomplishments from January 2005 to June 2006 rather than just the last fiscal year. EDCO is the country's largest provincial economic development association. The association consists of 600 members from the private and public sector
