This winter, the Town of Newmarket is thrilled to announce a special new event, Ice Lounge on Main presented by Mercedes-Benz Newmarket, which will celebrate the joys of downtown Newmarket.
Starting in the evening of Thursday, February 22 and running until Sunday afternoon, February 25, Ice Lounge on Main will transform Newmarket's Main Street into an outdoor winter lounge, featuring live performances, captivating public art and lighting, an unforgettable food and beverage experience and more for the community to enjoy.

"Ice Lounge on Main is more than an event – it's an extraordinary experience to bring the community together, while supporting our local businesses during the winter months, which is typically a slower time for many businesses."

The experience
Newmarket's historic Main Street, already a popular community gathering space that attracts over a quarter of a million visitors each year, will set the scene for the experience. From Water Street to Park Avenue, Main Street will become a pedestrian zone where visitors are invited to enjoy:
- Food & beverage. Indulge in expanded outdoor restaurant options or grab a drink at one of the Ice Bars. Guests can purchase alcohol from any participating licensed restaurant or vendor and enjoy it outdoors throughout the event area.
- Lounge areas. Kick back, relax and take in the atmosphere at one of the igloo lounges or warm up and roast marshmallows by the fire pits.
- Art installations. Stroll along Main Street and admire the art, including ice sculptures and light installations.
- Live entertainment. Music, magic and fire performances are just some of the delights that visitors can expect when they visit.
- The best of Main Street. Choose Local and explore the many boutique shops and services on Main Street. Win incredible prizes and earn rewards for shopping and dining during the event.

The Town of Newmarket's newest event adds to an award-winning lineup of events offered by the Town. In 2023, the Town of Newmarket was recognized by Festivals & Events Ontario as the Municipality of the Year for its Special Events in the mid-sized municipality category (population of 50,000 to 150,000).
