The Town of Newmarket is committed to ensuring safe roads for everyone. This season, three different types of In-Road Flexible Bollard programs will be in place starting next week and will remian until October 2025 as part of the Town's traffic calming and speed management program. The purpose of the bollards is to create narrower lanes in neighbourhoods to slow drivers from speeding through residential areas. These bollards are designed to flex upon impact to prevent damage to the bollard or vehicles. 

​The three types of bollards you will see are: 

• In-Road Centre Line Bollard Program 
• Bollards are installed on the centre line marked with the posted speed limit or 'School Zone' sign.  
• These will be installed on the following roads:  
• Bonshaw Avenue (East of Flagstone Way) 
• Brimson Drive (Alex Doner Drive – Hutchcroft Court)
• Carberry Street (Bayview Avenue – Pinder Avenue South) 
• Eagle Street (Lorne Avenue – Church Street) 
• Harrison Drive (Cherrywood Drive South – 50m North of Cherrywood Drive North)
• Huron Heights Drive (Davis Drive – Beman Drive)
• Joe Persechini Drive (Coleridge Drive South – Hartford Crescent North)
• Keith Avenue (Rhodes Circle West – Rhodes Circle East) 
• Main Street North (Simon Street - 30m north of Bexhill Road)
• Patterson Street (Leeder Corrt – Davis Drive) 
• Willowick Drive (Mulock Drive – Pinder Avenue North)
   
• In-Road Traffic Calming Bollard Program  
• Bollards are installed on the center lane with two side bollards close to each roadway curb.  
• This will be installed on the following roads: 
• Alex Doner Drive (Sykes Road – Crossland Gate North)
• Alexander Road (Sparrow Road – Srigley Street)
• Aspenwood Drive (Marble Place – 20 m East of Flagstone Way) 
• Bayview Parkway (Davis Drive – George Richardson Park) 
• Carol Avenue (Eagle Street – Park Avenue)
• Columbus Way (Sawmill Valley Drive – Mulock Drive) 
• College Manor Drive (Mulock Drive – Greig Circle South) 
• Dixon Boulevard (Webb Corrt – Armitage Drive)
• Foxcroft Boulevard (Mantopic Road – Quantra Crescent)
• Queen Street (Queen's Crescent – Roxborough Road) 
  

• In-Road Bike Lane Bollard Program  
• Bollards will be installed on the sides of bike lanes to act as bike lane delineators and as visual narrowing for drivers protecting cyclists even further.
• This will be installed on the following roads:  
• Alexander Road (Srigley Street – Davis Drive) 
• Lundy's Lane (Davis Drive – Bolton Avenue) 
• Millard Avenue (Yonge Street - Lorne Avenue)
• Millard Avenue West (Eagle Street West - Yonge Street)
• Prospect Street (Timothy Street - Srigley Street)
• Srigley Street (Prospect Street - Leslie Street)
• Timothy Street (Doug Duncan Drive - Prospect Street)
