Each year the Town of Newmarket undertakes a detailed budget planning process to ensure we are meeting the needs of our community now and in the future. This includes valuable input from the community which helps guide the strategic priorities of Council.
The 2026 budget is built upon the following goals:
- Maintaining service levels
- Ensuring a balanced approach on inter-generational equity (balancing current needs with the needs of future generations)
- Ensuring Newmarket is one of Canada’s best places to live, work and thrive
- Delivering capital programs to support growth and asset replacements
- Funding growth with growth dollars to maintain service levels as our population increases
- Building budgets on the foundation of the Fiscal Strategy
As always, the Town continues to strive to find the balance between keeping municipal taxes low, while maintaining the high level of services that make Newmarket a top place to live in Canada, investing in our assets and preparing for the future.
