The Lake Simcoe Region Conservation Authority has issued a Watershed Conditions Statement in effect until Monday, May 26. Weather forecasts indicate that an additional 20 to 40 mm of rain is possible by Friday evening.
All watercourses in our area will be flowing higher than normal. As a result, local streams and rivers will become dangerous, especially in the vicinity of culverts and bridges. While widespread flooding is not expected, the possibility for flooding in various low-lying areas of the watershed exists due to the expected rainfall and saturated ground conditions. Children should be warned to stay away from all watercourses.
