  • Snow Update for February 18: Reminders and Safety Tips

    Created: Tuesday, February 18, 2025

    Update for February 18, 2024
Newmarket snow crews are continuing with road and sidewalk clean-up this week. Due to the large amount of snow received a snow lift has been scheduled for Main Street on February 19 at 10 p.m.  Main Street from Water Street to Millard Avenue will be closed to for the snow lift. Other areas in Town are being assessed for additional snow removals.

Keep these snow reminds and safety tips in mind:

    • Avoid parking on the street so that plows can pass safely
    • Adopt a Fire Hydrant - clear a path to and from a fire hydrant to assist @CentralYorkFire during emergencies
    • Have our waste items at the curb by 7 a.m. in a visible location at the end of your driveway and not on the road, sidewalk or snow bank
    • Please respect and thank our plow operators.  A little gratitude can make a big difference, especially during tough winter conditions.
    • Clear areas around your home such as exhaust vents for dryer, furnace, wood burning or gas stoves. Ensure these areas are not obstructed by snow or ice build-up to prevent the risk of carbon monoxide. Check to ensure your carbon monoxide detector is working, replace batteries if needed and install one if you don't have one.
